DEPLOYMENT CRITERIA CONSIDERATIONS:
A Temporary Roadway Hazard System should be considered for deployment as part of a project’s temporary traffic control plan when a temporary situation may cause a hazardous driving condition such as:
- Flash flooding
- Weather conditions (fog, ice, etc.)
- Falling / fallen rock
- Slope movements
ANTICIPATED SYSTEM AFFECTS:
When properly designed and deployed for a specific project, a Temporary Roadway Hazard System should alert traffic of a hazardous condition on the roadway ahead and advise traffic of an appropriate action for the situation which may range from stopping, slowing, or diverting traffic. The system should also notify construction staff of the situation such that corrective actions may begin.
